The Comprehensive Exam starts with a short meeting with Dr. Hong to address your main concerns or chief complaints about your dental health. Then Dental Digital Radiographs (X-Rays) will be taken by the Dental Assistant. Digital Radiographs are key to clinical examinations. The majority of problems with your teeth and jawbone are not visible to the naked eye alone. This is why they play a key role in allowing a better more accurate look at problems that may be arising below your teeth and gums such as decay in between the teeth and bone loss from gum and periodontal disease.

We encourage all of our patients to visit us at least twice per year for a routine dental checkup. Our experts will provide a full examination of your teeth and gums to make sure that no issues are present. In addition to an examination, we will also provide a professional cleaning, an oral cancer screening and if necessary, digital X-rays.

Scaling and root planing uses specialized dental tools to reach below the gum line. This is done to clean out any deeply rooted plaque and tartar that is present and causing damage. During this procedure, we will also smooth out the surfaces of the tooth roots to help prevent further buildups from occurring in the future. This procedure is one of the most time-tested treatments for gum disease, and it is highly effective in restoring the health of one’s gums.

Today, periodontitis, or gum disease is a very serious oral health issue that affects nearly half of all adults to some extent. The earlier we detect the problem and start providing treatment, the easier it is to put a stop to the issue and restore the patient’s oral health.
At first, gum disease may appear to be a minor issue. The gums will appear slightly swollen and darkened in color. It’s also possible that the gums will become inflamed and begin to bleed when the teeth are cleaned or flossed. This may cause a slight feeling of irritation for the gum line. Unfortunately, many individuals dismiss the problem as no big deal, and they might remain hesitant to seek out treatment.
But as the issue progresses, the gums will actually begin to pull away and separate from the teeth. This creates empty spaces known as periodontal pockets. These gaps can become infested with plaque and tartar which allows the condition to spread more easily through the rest of the mouth. By measuring the depths of these pockets, the dentist can make an educated determination as to how far the condition has spread.
If the condition is allowed to progress further, it can reach the jawbone and cause very serious issues. The disease can eat away at the jawbone and cause it to deteriorate. In order to restore the jawbone, a bone grafting procedure may be necessary. And if the condition reaches the connective tissues of teeth, it can cause them to come loose and even fall out.
The first treament of Gum Disease is Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning). Then we will re-evaluate for further treatment by the Periodontist (Gum Specialist) if needed.

Dental sealants are clear or opaque (white) plastic resin coatings that smooth out the chewing surfaces of the back teeth — the place where your child is most likely to get tooth decay.

Professional teeth whitening is used to enhance the color of teeth, making them appear noticeably whiter and brighter. We do offer home bleaching. This process consists of making the customed trays to fit your teeth and providing the professional strength bleaching gels with instructions for the patients to do the whitening at home at their leisure.

A quick and easy way to greatly improve the appearance of teeth is to apply dental veneers. A set of veneers consists of thin, custom-made shells that are applied on the front surface of an individual’s teeth. Once veneers are applied, teeth that are misaligned, uneven, damaged or worn will be noticeably improved. Veneers are an excellent choice for any patient who wants to make major improvements to their smile without having to undergo any extensive treatments

Many people have a condition called bruxism. This essentially means that they clench their jaw or grind their teeth when they sleep. This habit is common, and may have something to do with excessive stress. Because it occurs routinely and without the patients’ knowledge, bruxism can cause undue wear on teeth. It may also cause jaw joints called TMJs to become irritated and dysfunctional. Therefore, Nightguard or Mouthguard's.purpose is to reduce the pressure that is placed on the teeth, joints, and jaw during sleep.

Missing teeth can be restored with implant supported crowns, bridges, or dentures. We work closely with the Specialists who will be doing the surgery of the implant placement. After the implants are healed and integrated well to the bone, we will restore them accordingly.

A filling repairs and restores the surface of a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fracture, or wear. A dental filling strengthens the tooth. If tooth decay is not repaired at its early stages, it will worsen and additional or alternative dental treatments may be necessary.
We do offer both Silver Fillings (Amalgam Restorations) and Tooth-Colored Fillings (Composite Restorations)

Crown is a cover or a "cap" for a tooth which is cracked, worn down, discolored or badly shaped. It is also needed to restore a tooth with large cavity, large filling, or had had root canal treatment. Its purpose is to make the tooth stronger or improve its looks. There are a variety of material that crown can be made of, such as porcelain fused to metal, full metal, and full ceramic, depending on the esthetic, the functionality and the desire of each individual.

A tooth extraction involves carefully removing a tooth from the mouth by pulling it from its socket. This treatment is provided in situations when a severely damaged tooth cannot be properly restored or when a tooth is causing problems or issues for other teeth in the mouth. When performing a tooth extraction, we work to make the process as easy and as painless as possible so that the patient can focus solely on improving their oral health after the procedure has been completed.
